Mrs Burke was appointed following a highly competitive and rigorous recruitment process. We are most fortunate to have such a fantastic first Headteacher for the new free school.

Mrs Burke has stated: I am delighted to be appointed as the first Headteacher at Garden Village Primary Academy. After a wonderful twenty-four years of teaching and leadership experience, I am very much looking forward to starting a new chapter of my life at Garden Village Primary.

As a mum of two children, who are studying 'Accountancy & Finance' and 'Aerospace Engineering' degrees at university, I know myself how important the first years at school are in building the foundations for the future. However, I also recognise the importance of developing the whole child through wider-curricular activities. In my leisure time, my husband and I spend a lot of time travelling and looking after our two dogs, two ducks and rabbits. I also enjoy shopping, swimming and participating in the exercise classes at my local health club.

Opening a brand new school, in such a beautiful setting, with the highest quality staff, resources and supporting curriculum, I feel privileged to provide your children and the wider community with the best quality learning opportunities and experiences. I very much look forward to meeting you in April 2024.

Mrs Burke will take up her appointment from the beginning of the Summer Term allowing her time to get to know children and families prior to the September opening.  Everything is coming together extremely well to secure a successful start for the new school in September 2024.
